Owl boxes are a great at-home or school project. Hung in a tree, an owl box creates a space for a nesting owl and her babies. Make one for yourself - or donate an owl box to Austin Wildlife Rescue! They are great for young owls and even juvenile squirrels.

About these plans - and about us.

These plans are shared from Austin Wildlife Rescue, a nonprofit wildlife rehabilitation center serving Central Texas since 1977. Every year we care for injured and orphaned owls - eastern screech owls, barn owls, great horned owls, and barred owls - and return them to the wild. Building an owl box is one of the most meaningful things you can do to support native owl populations. Safe nesting sites are increasingly scarce as Central Texas develops, and the next generation depends on the ones we put up.

Thank you for caring about Central Texas wildlife. If you build a box, we'd love to see it — tag us on Instagram or Facebook.
